The basics
What an eSIM actually is
A SIM card built into your phone that you load over the internet, instead of putting a piece of plastic into a tray. Nothing is posted to you and there is no shop to find at the airport.
Your own number stays where it is for calls and messages. The 1freedom plan carries your data while you are away — the part that costs a fortune on roaming.
Before you travel
Buying and installing before you fly is the easy order: you do it on a connection you trust, and the plan is simply waiting when you arrive. The app shows the setup guide for your phone as you go.
While you are away
The app shows what you have used and what is left. If you run through a pack you buy another from the same screen — there is nothing to reinstall.
